Artificial Grass: A Practical Alternative
Artificial Grass is a great alternative to a real lawn especially when your garden is predominantly shaded resulting in a mossy boggy turf. An unhealthy lawn can be unattractive and can prevent proper usage of your outdoor space which can become a nuisance when children and pets are using the garden. There are many benefits to choosing an Artificial Lawn including reduced maintenance. Cutting your lawn through Spring and Summer can be as frequent as once a week, all of that upkeep can be time consuming and costly especially if gardening is not your favourite hobby. Having an artificial lawn is much easier to maintain as long as you have the correct knowledge and products to ensure it remains clean and free from unwanted dirt and contaminants. In this article we’re going to share helpful tips for cleaning your Artificial Lawn; methods for preventing excess dirt build-up; the benefits of Valet-Chem Artificial Grass Cleaner plus useful instructions on how to use this product.
Why Does Artificial Grass Become So Dirty?
There are many reasons why your artificial lawn can become heavily saturated with unwanted muck and grime, often the reasons are out of your control and heavy foot traffic is not to blame. Your garden can be home to many forms of wildlife from bugs and insects, to small mammals and birds so, it is quite common to find loose twigs and nesting material that have been dropped on your artificial Grass.
Weather conditions such as wind and rain are also responsible for dirt build-up on your artificial lawn. Minerals such as sand and salts can be deposited through rainfall. Additionally leaves from planters and branches from neighbouring gardens can land on your synthetic grass. If the organic materials are left to disintegrate on the artificial lawn it can become sludgy and very untidy quite quickly and even pose a health and safety risk when the surface becomes slippery.
General day to day activities can also create a build-up of filth and sludge on your artificial grass, whether it’s children and pets playing or crumbs dropped at a family BBQ, if left to accumulate it can become an unsightly issue.
Performing A Routine Clean On Your Artificial Lawn
Removing obvious dropped leaves and debris as and when you notice them can prevent them from deteriorating on the artificial grass ensuring it stays fresher and cleaner for longer.
Natural materials such as leaves or food would ordinarily break down on your lawn providing nutrients for the grass but because the debris has no way of filtering back into the ecosystem you're left with an unwanted mess which can make spending time in your garden less enjoyable.
By regularly removing any loose debris from your artificial lawn there is a greater chance of increasing the lifespan ensuring it remains fresher and newer looking for longer which will reduce the need to replace it.

Why It's Important To Clean Your Artificial Grass
The degreasing properties of Valet-Chem Artificial Grass Cleaner help prevent the build-up of decomposing organic materials. Regular turf has the natural ability to balance harmful bacteria that forms thanks to its complex ecosystem, whereas artificial grass can become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria so, it’s important to prevent this from happening by using a powerful cleaner that cuts through stubborn dirt, grease and sludge that has gathered between the strands of the synthetic grass. Removing unsightly debris can make it a safer cleaner environment reducing the likelihood of harmful bacteria developing.
